Boddington is located one hour from the outskirts of Perth on the Hotham River. It has one IGA, Post Office, NAB, Hardware store, pub, bakery and several cafes. It has a range of attractions depending on what types of activities you enjoy. Having spent many weekends in Boddington this is how I would spend a day.
Start the day with a walk along the river which is only situated 80 metres from Boddington Retreat (Walk out the door and turn left and at the end of the street is the river )Then walk back down the main street and have some breakfast at one of the local cafes. If it is hot day there is local swimming pool two streets away or if you enjoy golf there is also a golf course.
Half the Shire of Boddington comprises State Forest. The town is an excellent base from which to go hiking, wildflower sighting, bird watching or picnicking. The Bibbulmun Track (a world class 1,000 kilometre walking trail) passes through the Boddington Shire.
If you are more adventurous, you could hop in the car and visit the Boddington Gold Mine Viewing Platform, Bacchus – Lord of the Grapes statue, Tullis Bridge, Hotham River Foreshore and Long Gully Bridge.
One of my favourite day trips is to Dwellingup, which is only 20 km’s away and you can kayak at the Lane Pool Reserve. To see more about this location visit http://www.dwellingupwa.com.au/maps-trails/lane-poole-reserve-map-information.
The best way to finish the day is to have dinner and a drink at http://www.quindanninginne.com.au/, which is a 20-minute drive from Boddington retreat. If you are looking for accommodation in Boddington, this is the ideal place to stay.
